Achieving effective management of the protected area network by the government, communities and partners requires strengthening organizational, institutional and resource capacity. In order to achieve this goal, BFL strives to equip all protected areas and biological corridors with essential equipment and infrastructure by year 10. Bhutan For Life has made sure all the constructions activities are carried out keeping in minds of its purpose and benefits to the environmental conservation.
In year 1 of the project, constructions of head office in few protected areas and biological corridors could start despite some challenges. Construction work kick started in seven project areas spread across protected areas and biological corridors. The construction works are progressing well and have shown significant achievements within a short period of time. Due to very less implementation time for Year 1, all the construction works are carried over to Year 2. These constructions have undergone Environmental and Social Safeguards screening as per the relevant Acts and Rules and Regulations of Bhutan in obtaining approvals and clearances from the competent Authorities. The screening process was also guided by the Environment and Social Management Framework (ESMF).
